Middle School Winter Concert

If Wayne looks a bit thinner and pale, it's because he just spent a week at home with fever and pneumonia just like Heather did a few weeks ago.  Luckily, he started to feel well enough in time to take part in the concert, although he had missed some of the rehearsals.

Cole did not escape the fever and cough. He was also home or a several days before Wayne, but his did not seem to turn into pneumonia.

Wayne Is In the Chronicle

Wayne is still getting recognition for his music writing abilities. He and his friend Asom are featured in this week's Chronicle.

The article talks about the music composing program that they are involved in at school with Music-Comp and online mentors. It covers how Wayne has had 2 compositions chosen to be played by professional musicians at the opus concerts and that he was interviewed by VPR Classical. Asom has also had a composition chosen for last year's concert and his piece was also used in a Vermont based production of a Civil War documentary.

 There's Cole too. He looks so young. This photo was taken about a year ago. 

Can you see to the left of the picture, Wayne mentions his dad is his inspiration? 

It is a really nice story and we are proud of our Glover students. (And now that Heather is in 3rd grade, she has joined the composing club, as well!)

Wayne Got a Partridge

This week we have no school until Thursday, due to in-service, parent/teacher conferences, and Veteran's Day. Today, Wayne got a partridge. Good job Wayne!

Keeping in Touch

Heather has had a rough bout with a flu that developed into a little bit of pneumonia. After missing a week and a half of school, her friend and classmate, Anya (who lives up the road), sent home this sweet note.

  Heather answered back with:

Heather is feeling a lot better and should be headed back to school tomorrow (Wed) with her huge stack of completed homework.

In October, the weather changes quickly, from one day to the next.

End of Season

Soccer season is done for Cole and Heather's team. They didn't win the tournament, but they played well and ended up losing a tied game in a shoot out. There is a lot of future talent out there and that goalie in the orange heroicly blocked a ton of shots. Heather is directly in front of Cole. She has short hair now.

Wednesday

Moving out? Taking a long trip? Nope. It's just another Wednesday. Instrumental lessons( during school), soccer practice for all 3 at two different times, piano lessons in Greensboro, guitar club (luckily, we took the guitar to school yesterday or there would be no way to fit it in the car), jazz band rehearsal at LR, and lets not forget regular school. After school we hit the ground running, going straight from one thing to the next, sometimes overlapping. At times like this I almost miss the van.

For anyone who wants to listen to Wayne's interview on VPR, Kari Anderson emailed me this information:

"It was a pleasure to meet Wayne, he did a great job, and I'm excited for the piece to air. It'll be on next Monday at 11:30am, Wednesday at 8:30am, Friday 4pm and Saturday 9am.
