Wayne - Spring Concert

Lake Region held their spring concert last night. The theme of the night was a tribute to Beyonce. I'm not particularly a fan, but I was surprised at what a nice concert it turned out to be.  It featured her music and also the artists who were her musical influences, so there was a lot of jazz and R&B.

Dr. Doncaster is a very fun teacher. She has a great personality, full of enthusiasm for music, teaching, and her students. She encouraged the audience to sing along with all the songs, and even had the crowd "rehearse" some of the pieces before they began.

This was a busy evening for us. Heather had a softball game and Wes was the Ump. Cole had a track meet at North Country. And Wayne had this concert. Joanie made it to 2 of the 3 events: softball and concert!

A Beautiful Day to Run

Cole had a track meet today at U32 in Montpelier. It was a perfect day with temps in the upper 60s and no humidity.

Between races, hacky sack with a dandelion.
When did Cole start to look like a movie star? (I still give them their haircuts, thank you very much)
Waiting for the 100 meter dash to start.
I have my photos out of order but I think this is the 800 meter run.

The mile.
In the mile run, Cole got his personal best and set a Glover School record with a time of 5:09.

Here is video (click the link below) that Google made out of my uploaded photos.

I still have not seen Wayne play Lake Region baseball. Many games have been cancelled due to not enough players. I will see him on the summer Babe Ruth team.

Spring Sports

It doesn't really feel like it (we had snow earlier this week) but you know it's officially spring when softball and baseball begins.
This was Heather's first game of the season, in Newport, after having 2 cancellations due to bad weather.  She was excited about playing catcher.

She did a really good job. It's always amazing to see how much the kids improve from one year to the next.  She seems very comfortable and confident playing softball this year.

Here she is on base after a nice hit.

This sign on the dugout reminded me of Wayne's early days of playing baseball. He is on the Lake Region JV team but I haven't seen any of his games yet. He hasn't had very many. Several of his games have been cancelled due to not having enough players. He has a home game on Monday that I am hoping to go to.
Last night, Heather had her 2nd game and it was a home game. Here she plays 3rd base...
and also catcher again.  Wes will be the umpire for most of the home games.

Heather got a good hit here.

Cole has joined a track and field team. It's a new program for the Lake Region area schools, so there are still some kinks to work out as far as scheduling, but as soon as there's a meet, there will be photos!
