This morning, at about 5:30 as I tried to pry my eyes open with caffeine, Heather decided to go down to the basement and get creative with her craft scissors. Not with construction paper, but with her hair. Five minutes later, she came proudly into the kitchen, where I was standing with my mug, to show me her achievement.
I woke right up.
Poor girl. My reaction was not what she expected. These pictures don't really show the complete "style" very well.

I tried to even it out some and will have to do a better job later after a bath, when her hair is wet. It's not as short as it looks, I just have some of the choppy layers tucked behind her ears.
Grammie says, "She seems pretty proud of herself, anyway!"
ReplyDeleteMum says, "She cut herself a layered look! Very fashionable... seems like one of my girls did some of that hair cutting... can't remember which one."
Wasn't me! But I did cut my own bangs at age 12 and accidentally snipped off a large part of my left eyebrow. Took five months to grow back!
I love that she looks guilty in the first photos and triumphant (and cute!) in the last one. Estelle is 3 1/4 and has only had a hair cut 3 times in her life and her hair barely grows. I can just, finally, get it into pony/pigtails. If she got crafty with scissors I'd probably turn to the drink - and I don't mean coffee! ha ha
ReplyDeletep.s. Jesse shaved a bald spot in the middle of his head when he was 5.
p.s. is this what happens when Wes goes to Deer Camp? ha ha
ReplyDeleteI have been living by "murphy's law" this weekend - if anything can go wrong it will. Heather giving herself a haircut is just one in a long list of things that have gone haywire around here lately.
ReplyDeleteI was so frustrated with Heather because we had also just gotten to the point where we could do cute things like pig tails and braids. Oh well. It'll grow.
Your Future Hair Dresser! She's still adorable. Auntie, Di.
ReplyDeleteOh, Darlene. What was it with our children this weekend? I'm pretty sure I couldn;t survive another repeat of this past weekend's events...culminating with a total of 5 hours of sleep (over an 11-hour period), requests for peanut butter sandwiches at 2AM, not wanting me to leave him at daycare this morning...the list goes on and on. And I am absolutely certain that if Elijah had access to scizzors, he would have done exactly what Heather did. Guess the kids miss their Daddies?
ReplyDeleteYou did a NICE job fixing Heather's hair. I actually think it looks cute. This Thanksgiving, you have your cosmetology skills tobe thankful for :-)
Even with the chopped up hair, Heather is always so adorable! I love the new short, layered look - she'll need to keep a hat on to keep her ears warm now!
