Every once in a while, Wayne wants to make maple candy.
We haven't made any syrup yet this year, so we used some left over from last year.
This is the recipe we used (above) but we didn't shape it into leaves, we just poured it in a dish and cut squares.
Heating any sugar to any certain temperature always makes me nervous. It's so fussy - miss the mark by even a couple of degrees and everything goes wrong. We've had that experience before and it's very disappointing.
Luckily, everything worked perfectly this time and the results were heavenly!

Wow! That last picture of the candy on the paper towel looked yummy!
ReplyDeleteAnd I can attest that it not only looked yummy, it was....delicious!!!!!Great job, Wayne!!

Dear Wayne,
ReplyDeletePlease save some of that candy for us.
Love Estelle & Léna
p.s. We are coming on June 24th. Try not to eat it all before then.
ReplyDeleteWayne, you are going to have to write a cookbook with all of your delicious recipies! You are a great cook! Grampie used to make maple candy too! He poured the the remains of the syrup, he had made, into cupcake tins, and threw in walnuts too!! We would naw on those hard cake discs for a long time!! Very yummy, but not so great for our teeth! :)
