September, So Far

This post is mostly about September events, but the first day of school was actually August 28th.

During the 2nd week of school, Cole's 8th grade class went to Nature's Classroom at the Sargent Center in southern New Hampshire.
At Nature's Classroom, the students do a lot of team building activities and science projects.
Cole, wearing a green dress, learns about doing laundry the old time way.
Then on September 8th, Wayne turned 16. Where have the years gone?
 He requested Parker Pie pizza...
 ...and raspberry pie.

Meanwhile, soccer season has begun. Wayne is on the Lake Region JV team but has been invited to some varsity practices and has played in a varsity scrimmage. Cole is on the Glover middle school team.  On game days, players are required to dress up to represent their school.
 Don't they look handsome?
Because of my new job, working until 5:00 I won't get to see many of Cole's after school sport events this year.  It makes me sad to think that I will miss that part of his last year of middle school.
I will be able to catch a few of Wayne's high school games. I made it to this home game against Lamoille in time to see the 2nd half. Wayne will also have some Saturday games.
Lucky for me, in addition to soccer, Cole is participating in a handful of middle school Cross Country meets on Saturdays. He ran in a meet today at U32 on East Montpelier.
 The start of the race.

Finishing the race.  His time was 9:09 (it was a 1.7 mile race) and he was 7th out of 144 middle school boys. Results are listed here on Athletic.net
Heather has also started soccer but I haven't taken pictures yet. She is also enrolled in a Hunter Safety course which will meet on Tuesday and Thursday for the next couple of weeks, ending on a Saturday at the shooting range in Orleans.

In the meantime, Patches helps her with a homework project.

  1. Have a great time on your hunter safety course, Heather! Super cool.

Congrats to both boys for their athletic accomplishments. I have some questions about the continuing evolution of Wayne's hairdo. Wayne, we used to call that "the flip" in the early 2000s in my school. How retro!

  2. Grammie Alexander and I are happy to hear about the goings on of W,C, & H. Yes, the children are growing up so fast and are all so tall and handsome.
Must be hard to miss some of Cole's games, but glad you get to see him run on Saturdays.
Was Patches part of the homework assignment or did he just think he should be?

    1. Patches like to plop herself down in the middle of things to gain our attention and adoration.

  3. Forgot to write that I took took the Hunter's Safety Course when I was a pre-teen with my brother, Edwin. I think Dad thought I was going to be a great hunter. I remember going target shooting at the GE range with Dad once, and following him about on a rabbit hunt once. But, thus, ended my career as the Great White Hunter!

    1. I took the hunter safety course a few years ago with Wayne and learned that I am quite the sharp shooter. A hidden talent I never knew I had.
