Glover Day 2014

Another beautiful Glover Day. Unlike some years, not so steamy and humid, but sunny and comfortable.

The Univega has seen better days, but Julie made a last minute decision the ride the bike race once again.

Peter and the small crowd of mountain bike racers line up for the start.

Wayne steams down the home stretch, 2nd place overall in the 5k.

Cole, first year running the 5k, 6th place overall.

Edwin is not doing ballet in the middle of the road. He's directing traffic around the end of the race.

Sandy, representing the Outlaws for Glover Day, finishes strong in the 5.5 mile run.

Go Lizzy! Also a 5 miler.

Martha is looking in great shape.

Lining up for the kids race - Heather, Anya, and Estelle.

This girl was built to run.

Yay Heather!

Awesome job, Lena and Thomas!

It was a pleasant surprise to find some Switchel waiting at the finish line to slake their thirst.

The puppet show re-enactment of Runaway Pond.

After the festivities on the green, back at Shadow for burgers and dogs and lots of salads.

And swimming, of course.

Calvin and Brittany arrived in kayaks. Unfortunately, I didn't get pictures of them, but Thomas and Lena and New Paul borrowed the kayaks for a little spin.

Another day full of great memories.

Hiking Mt. Pisgah

Cole and I hiked Mt. Pisgah today.

Finally, the summit!

Headed back down with thoughts of our traditional after-hike ice cream reward.

Lots of This and That

Here is a whole bunch of miscellaneous pictures from the past few weeks that I almost forgot were on my camera.

Wayne went to Stuart and Emilie's camp to mow the grass. We used it as a little swim time and Julie, Estelle, and Lena met up with us there.

Enjoying some popsicles with jokes written on the sticks.

Brian did some haying and the chickens were curious about the equipment.

Julie and her girls, and my kids and I met up with Aimee,  Caroline, and Grant at Crystal Lake. Aimee helped Caroline set up the shade tent.

Wayne and Cole played wiffle ball and soccer with a group of kids.

Heather and Estelle did this.

We saw a mama with some duckings.

Brian trusts us way too much with his farm equipment.

Enjoying the little pool.

Heather and I went to Maine.

This is where I swam every day of every summer as a kid.

Back at home, lots of wiffle ball games.

These girls played wiffle ball, splashed in the pool, and then sat on each other.

Wayne and Heather made red, white, and blue strawberries.

We did some patriotic face painting.

Parade time.

Slab City ceremony

Lena helped serve cupcakes.

No fireworks for us tonight due to an early baseball game in the morning. Instead Wayne, Cole, and Heather topped off the day with some sparklers.
