Wayne's Concert

Lake Region will have their big spring concert in a few weeks, but they had smaller show this week called "New Classics." I don't have my program handy so no titles or descriptions but if you're interested in giving a listen, head over to YouTube.

Glover Talent Show - Slab City

Here is a little video featuring Joanie's skit at the Glover Talent Show.  It's in 2 parts because my memory card filled up and I had to quickly delete some things to make room for more video!

History Fair

Last night was the history fair, held at North Country High School.
Cole worked with classmate Erica, studying two Vermont women who were women's right to vote activists.

It turned out to be quite a family night. Aimee and Tyler organize the event. They are not the judges, so they had nothing to do with Cole and Erica winning a cash prize. I'm not sure what category they won.

Our little Glover Community School had a very strong showing at this event, with students placing in a majority of categories. Glover, Glover, Glover...I think people were getting tired of hearing Glover place in all those categories. Too bad for them.

Cole and Erica did a great job. We are very proud of them!

Heather and the Junior Hoops Champs

Heather played basketball this season with a very talented group of girls. They were undefeated during the regular season. The only game they lost was during the rotary tournament in Newport, playing against a team which some told me recently, was at least partly composed of 7th and 8th graders. (Jr Hoops is 3rd -6th grades)

Last weekend (and I mean ALL weekend) they ended their season with the league tournament at Lake Region. Below, the line up is announced and we all stand for the national anthem.
 Game time.

 Strategizing during half time

One by one, they knocked off every team they played...

Until they were the last ones standing. Lake Region Junior Hoops Champions!

 And a pizza party afterwards.
Heather really bonded with her teammates this year. She was sad that the season was over.

Cole in the Northeast Middle School Music Festival

You've seen Wayne participate in this huge concert for the past couple of years. Now it's Cole's turn to join Northern Vermont's top 7th and  8th grade music students.
Students are bussed from all over Northeastern Vermont to North Country High School for an all day rehearsal, a pizza dinner, and an evening concert performance.
Cole really enjoyed his day. He talked about how he met so many nice kids and how he ate lunch with some really smart kids. One was able to list all the states alphabetically, and another was able to recite 125 digits of pi. He said, jokingly, "I was the dummest one at the table."

Cole during rehearsal.

Cole, on the bus, with Audrey, "friend who's a girl" (he is not allowed to have a "girlfriend" yet.) She is from Barton School.

See if you can pick him out in the photo below. You may not recognize him with a new haircut, but I'll give you a hint: he is the most handsome young man in the entire chorus (and definitely not the dummest!)

You will only get a glimpse of him, now and then, in this video. He is directly behind the director's head.

When we went to see Wayne's concert last year, Cole was really impressed with the chorus, so he requested to be part of the chorus this year rather than play his saxophone in the band.
The concert was a great way to start off the weekend. As usual, these kids did a beautiful job and the concert was inspiring. I was so proud of Cole for speaking so maturely about the friends he made, for working hard and having fun, and for looking so handsome!

Some special people sent me flowers to celebrate my new job at Rock Insurance Agency.
The flowers on the right are from Wes and Heather, and the daffodils are from Joanie.
Thank You all!

More Basketball - Cole This Time.

Cole, who is on 7th grade, is on the Glover Middle School basketball team. This weekend they are playing in the St. Johnsbury tournament hosted by Good Shepherd Catholic School.
 Determined to get the rebound.

This morning they played against Waterford and suffered a bitter loss.

Their record has been less than stellar this year, but Cole has enjoyed every minute of the social side of being on the basketball team.

Emily's Shower

Heather and I just returned from a lovely visit at Lisa and Dan's for Emily's baby shower.

Emily sits at the head of the table, surrounded by cousins and aunts. Lisa prepared an incredible meal.

 Emily, showered with gifts!

Baby Sam seemed to steal the show.
 Heather was infatuated with him.
He is a very cheerful little guy and was a great sport to put u[ with us all.

We had a great time at Emily's shower. Heather enjoyed sleeping over and playing with the baby. We wish Emily the best of luck in her new adventure in motherhood!
