Here's the group, minus Chris who was taking the photo.
When the rain and thunder started, the work crew came back to our house, Where Martha and Chris treated us all to hamburgers and hotdogs. Joanie made a delicious cream of broccoli soup, and there were rice crispy treats for dessert. And of course, Memorial Day would not be complete if we did not remember the poor souls lost in the sinking of the Titanic. Cole did his traditional performance and then forced Alex to play Titanic, as seen below. They look pretty happy for people who are supposed to be fighting for their lives in the icy waters of the North Atlantic.
Now everyone has gone to the cemeteries in Barton to plant flowers.

What fun it was for us to watch the traditional "planting of the flowers" at the gravesite. It is wonderful that you are carrying on in Mom's absence.
ReplyDeleteHeather looked like her forehead was pressed up to the stone. Hope she has memorized the inscription!
No rain here, just hot and windy. May get thunder showers after 2am.
For our Memorial Day festivites, we went to a parade that lasted all of 2 minutes. However, we didn't go down to the monument where the program takes place. We just watched everyone march by. Sam, Sr. had a nice spot to view the parade sitting under a lilac tree.
