Gingerbread House Part 2

Chapter two of the Gingerbread Saga:

Cole constructs his house. His is made not of gingerbread, but graham crackers. I forgot to take pictures of Wayne putting his house together...

but here they both are, eating...oh, I mean decorating... with candy and frosting.

While her brothers worked on their houses, Heather colored some gingerbread men.

Wayne gets very detailed with his patterns.

More to come - final touches and the contest on Friday.

Wayne was supposed to have in "winter concert" tonight but they postponed it until next Tuesday because they thought the roads might be bad tonight.

  1. Those houses are looking so cute. Those kids are cute too!

Grammie says, "I think he stands a good chance to win as it is a very different pattern."

  2. What a good parent you are, Darlene!

Some day when your children are grown up and enjoying successful careers they will look back to their early days spent around the kitchen table with a glue gun and an icing bag.

I expect that Wayne will be an architect, and Cole will be a naval engineer. (This is a reference to the ocean liner whose name we dare not speak.)

As for Heather, she is obviously a genius. Look at that photo - and that hair style - and tell me she does not remind you of Albert Einstein!

  3. I agree with Dan and thank you, Darlene, for making me feel, as usual, that I'm doing a crap job as a mother.
But they don't even have candy canes here, nor graham crackers. And I don't have a mixer either.
    We live vicariously thru you.

  4. To Julie:
I think being bilingual and an international traveler tips the scale more than making gingerbread houses. Probably the only thing they'll remember about this experience is that I was impatient with Heather for grabbing at everything on the table and that I yelled at Cole for frosting the snowman black. I could create a whole different blog about life with 3 kids and it wouldn't be nearly as idyllic as "Two Princes and a Princess!" I only show you the good stuff.

Lots of love to all of you from Gramma and Grampa in Maine
