Most of you know by now that my Dad passed away one week ago today after spending nearly 3 weeks in the hospital fighting pneumonia and its cruel complications. I think about him a lot and feel sad for my mother who, after 64 years of marriage, is spending her first major holiday without him. She's feeling very lonely and scared about the challenges and changes she faces now. My brother, sister, and I are helping her as much as we can.
On a more cheerful note, back here in the NEK of VT life with 3 kids just keeps rolling along. Yesterday was Glover Recreation's annual Easter Scramble. Wes is in the bunny costume. Heather was scared, even though she knew it was her daddy in there. Wayne is too old and embarrassed for such foolishness. I had to bribe, threaten, and coerce both of them to get in the picture. Cole seems to be the only one right now at the perfect age for a photo with the Easter Bunny.
Then back at home an afternoon of egg decorating.
Today we're just staying home and having our own little Easter Dinner.
Happy Easter!

It's great to have you back, Darlene. I'm so sorry for all that you and your family have been through in the past 3 weeks. Your Mom will persevere- I don't know how, but people do. 64 years of marriage is quite amazing...something to definitely be proud of.
ReplyDeleteIt must be nice to be home with Wes and the kids, relaxing and spending a quiet Easter Sunday together.
Happy Easter to you all. We love you!
Great minds think alike - I also called my post Hoppy Easter.
ReplyDeleteHope your Easter was calm and joyous, a nice change from all that you have been thru. We have been thinking of you so much. Thomas and I both were stunned by how much of you we saw in the war-time photo of your Dad in his obituary. Amazing.
Lots of love
Enjoyed your Easter pictures. Wes is a good sport to put on the bunny suit. The eggs you colored are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI had read your dad's obituary on line, but hadn't seen that handsome picture of him. Darlene, I can see some family resemblance. Yesterday, at church I said both "Darlene" and "Hariette" out loud during a time when we "Draw the circle wide" to include people we are thinking about. I will be thinking of all of you on Friday and sending love and prayers your way.
Thinking of you Darlene. It is so painful to loose a parent. What an handsome young man in his uniform! xo laura and paul
ReplyDeleteDarlene, you post was full of joy and sadness! Seeing Wesley as the Easter Bunny made me laugh out loud, especially with his less than thrilled children! He is a good egg! Hope your Mom will be ok, and with all of your love and support, will help her through all the holidays, seasons and changes.
