Dance Assembly as part of the physical Education class. Keep in mind, they only had a few practice sessions, and the kids came up with these routines themselves.
Wayne with the 3rd and 4th grade group.
Cole with the first and second grade group. They're dancing to a song called "I'm Elmo and I Know It." He wants me to make sure you all know that he was very embarrassed to dance to an Elmo song, 8-year-olds are too old for Elmo, he was not in favor of it at all.
And then Wayne was also part of a smaller group with his friends Bailey and Asom.
Wild moves, guys! I think you both did a very good job.
ReplyDeleteCole, I saw a movie "Being Elmo" that they made on the man who is the puppeteer for Elmo. Very cool, he knew he wanted to be a puppeteer since he was a little kid and was on tv by the time he was in high school! Ever since I saw that movie, I like Elmo a lot more. Wayne, weren't you a little nervous to have your friend leaping over you in the pyramid? Looked like a lot of fun!
Grammie and I had lots of fun watching these dance videos. We were struck by how tall and thin both Wayne and Cole are. We think they are both great dancers. Our school has done something similar with our PE classes where the students come up with their own dance steps to songs and then perform for parents.
ReplyDeleteGrammie says, " A lot of good exercise!"
Love, Lisa and Grammie
Wayne & Cole- You both did such a great job!! Loved the music! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWow! So glad the school is teaching dance! Mary and I loved square dancing in gym class, as 4th graders. It was my fondest memories of pe! I think Wayne and Cole are very limber and great dancers, although I agree with Cole that for a boy who is making star war videos, probably Elmo is a bit young for his taste!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how much I love these videos! Wayne may have a future as a stunt dancer! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is very impressive learning all those movements and step in order and having to coordinate with others, all learned in a short while...it is amazing!!! Great job, Wayne and Cole!!

I saw most of that Being Elmo documentary, too...it was so good!!

Okay, what a great way to start my day over my tea. Thomas is fast asleep and I am by myself in the living room, smiling (Wayne's class), cackling (Cole's moves and Little Miss Split in the red sweatsuit in front of Cole) and then nodding in sincere-being-impressed-ness and the trio of Wayne. I like that Asom, who is half-African, clearly is the leader with the smooth moves. The kid has got it GOIN' ON!
ReplyDeletePlease tell your kids that Estelle goes to dance class 2x/week. One is with 2 other little girls and it's very touchy-feeling, look at me I'm a bird, or I'm a mirror of you, blah blah. The other is HipHop and it's a whole different ball game. It's with about 10 hyper boys and 2 other girls and the teacher is a 25 year old guy. Serious break-dance mojo. We are looking forward to the end-of-the-year show, which, considering how much money it is going to cost us, had better be good.
