As Heather gets older, with no younger siblings following in her footsteps, I find myself ticking off the last of the firsts. First teeth, first steps, first day of preschool.
I remember Wayne's first t-ball game. And Cole's first t-ball game. And today Heather's first t-ball game. Another last first.
Heather has been very excited to start t-ball. She has loved going to the practices and knows many of the kids on her team, some of whom she will be classmates with in the fall. When we woke this morning to fog, drizzle, and 34 degrees, she was almost in tears to think that her game might get cancelled. Fortunately for her, the rain held off, although the temps were not so cooperative.
Freezing as shortstop.
Up to bat. Strike one.
Strike two.
Strike three. In t-ball, you get 5 pitches before the coach brings out the batting T.
On the 4th pitch, she gets a good hit.
She didn't like running the bases with the helmet on.
It took an hour and a half to complete the first 2 innings, at which point, we had to subtract her from the game, in order to get to Wayne's minors game at noon. Heather didn't mind because by that time she was frozen solid and ready to go. Let's hope for better weather next week.

I love love love my goddaughter. She is the cutest thing going with a helmet. You tell her I think she looks snazz-o-rama. She is so lucky. No girls play any kinds of sports like that in France.
ReplyDeleteDarlene, what great shots...you even got the ball in the frame each time. She sure is growing up! I am glad it warmed up so she could enjoy the sunshine on the playground keeping up with the older kids during Wayne's game!
ReplyDeleteI loved you poignant "last firsts."

You make a great Pirate shortstop Heather!!
ReplyDeleteHeather looks spiffy in her uniform! Sorry that her first game was cold but didn't stop her from getting a hit!! Way to go Heather!! Last "firsts" are atleast a little easier than first " lasts!" They grow up fast! Love, Mart
ReplyDeleteSo glad she is playing t-ball! My sister and I didn't start until 3rd grade and then everyone else was so much better than us (we caught up quickly though!). That last picture is just adorable... Caroline and I would love to come watch a game!
