Autumn means hunting season in Vermont, and Wayne is following the family tradition.
Every hunter likes to tell his story, so I'll turn the page over to Wayne.
Me and my Dad were walking down the driveway partridge hunting, because I often saw them on the driveway going to school. After a few minutes, we saw a partridge fly across the driveway into the woods near Waterfall Park. We kept going down the driveway, but then I decided I wanted to go after the partridge. So we went into the woods. We were heading up towards the pond, and there was a small stream/ditch leading away from the pond. I saw the partridge walking around in the ditch, and I shot at it. It tried to fly away after it got shot, but a second after that, my Dad shot too and it was dead. At first I didn't think it was dead, because it's tail was sticking up and I thought it was its head, and I didn't know how its head would still be standing up if it was dead. I went over to look at it and realized that the tail was just it's head. Then we brought it home.

Joanie says, "I can't believe you got a partridge. When I see them in the woods they fly up and are gone in a second."
ReplyDeleteAunt Lisa really liked your story of how you got your partridge and are impressed that you are such a good shot.
Grammie says, " Wayne, I loved your story about the partridge. I used to see them too when I was walking down the road to get the mail."
Uncle Dan wants to say, "That is more than I ever shot!"
Cousin Anna wants to says "I want to know when you get a bunk at deer camp. I think you are going to be the next big hunter. How did you like the partridge?"
Joanie says, "How did you prepare the partridge and did you keep the tail?"
Did you eat it already? Is that what's on the plate? When does Wayne get to go to camp with the Old Dudes? ;)
ReplyDeleteNice work Wayne!
Dear Wayne, I am so proud of you! I always wanted Uncle Chris to bring me home a partridge, as it has to be my favorite "wild" meat, but, alas, he always missed! So, keep hunting, be safe, and you will be the next mighty hunter in the family! Your dinner of partridge, oven fries, and squash looked so yummy, that I am coming over for your dinner!!
ReplyDeleteI want to come over right now for that meal! Yum yum
ReplyDeleteGreat job Wayne - we are so proud of you - especially for being a safe hunter, the most important part.
