Feeling Better

We were all happy to say good-bye and good riddance to January. We didn't have a single healthy day all month long.  Whenever February starts, I feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's a short month, the days begin to get longer, and spring starts next month. Although, I have to admit, that last year, February was out "sick" month. As I write this, we are being pounded by a snow storm, but as long as we're all feeling better, I'll take it. My class for tomorrow has been cancelled, so we will have some time to play in the snow and get some much needed fresh air.

This amaryllis was a Christmas present. Since I took this picture, it has produced three more blooms. It really brightens up our dining area.
Heather writes a letter to her cousin. I won't say who - maybe you can see in the picture.
Last Sunday was a beautiful day. We had previously had some very warm rainy days, and then some very cold days with just a dusting of snow. Wayne, Heather and I went to the pond and scraped the dusting off to find perfectly smooth ice underneath. (Cole was snowshoeing with Joanie.) It was a sunny day and we spent all afternoon skating. These pictures were taken after the sun had dipped below the tree line.

Just a couple of short skating videos.

And for a good laugh, go back in time 3 years and check out this old skating video.

  1. Glad everyone is finally well at your house and that the pond was just right for skating. Enjoy your weekend at home in the snow!

  2. Happy to hear that everyone is healthy! i hope you are through with it now... there have been so many kids with colds/flu and now norovirus around town that we mostly hibernate. Being sick is so not fun!

  3. That was fun to see Cole years ago with his little catepillar shuffle on the ice!! Even back then, Wayne was a good skater! Loved seeing what I missed seeing cause Cole and I were off to the Pinnacle on snowshoes! Great pictures!! Funny to see the winter snowjackets and snow shoes we used to know so well, now long gone in memory, like Heather's purple snowsuit!!

We have all been sick this week too, except Estelle. Thomas is home from work for the 2nd day.

  5. Love to see how much the kids have grown, and improved on their skating! Dad would be happy to see that the pond is being used! So nice to get outside, get exercise, and get away from all the germs in school, house, etc! Hope you all are well now, and getting excited for vacation.
