You may recall from an earlier post that Cole has been doing a lot of running this summer. He has been participating in the Tuesday Night Trail Series at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. If you want to refresh your memory, your can reread that post by clicking here.
The Tuesday Night Trail Series consisted of 13 5k trail races, all held at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center and the nearby Hosmer Point campground. Last night, they had their final race followed by a pizza party. Prizes were awarded based on a season-long point system. The point system is based on age, times, and the number of races the runner participated in.
Below, Cole with his friends Caleb and Erika.
The pizza party was held at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center's wood fired oven. They made lots and lots of pizza. It was fun to watch.

Only one prize was awarded for each male/female age group. Cole and Caleb did not win prizes for their age group, but Erika won a prize for the women's age 15 and under age group. The prizes to choose from were: bags of granola, homemade cookies, or jars of pickles.
Cole didn't seem to mind not winning a prize. He just really enjoyed whole experience of the summer-long trail series and the pizza party ending.

I am so happy that Cole liked the entire experience. So proud of him!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Cole, going so many times and tackling all those trails. I think the wood-fired outdoor oven is so cool; when I heard pizza, I envisioned Parker Pie or Hoagie's pizza boxes--this was much more of a prize! And congratulations to Darlene and Wes for finding your way to Craftsbury Outdoor Center--and back home!--all those weeks!!--Joanie
ReplyDeleteSo glad that Cole is loving running! I start coaching 5th gr XC runners next week! I would love a runner like Cole!!!
