Swimming Lessons

Wayne and Cole have started two weeks of swimming lessons at Shadow Lake. The weather has been terrible every day so far - drizzly, damp, and chilly. Today, the Channel 3 weather report is giving us hope for something better.

They both hate swimming lessons.
Cole and the girl in the blue suit are half of this fall's kindergarten class. I don't know who the other girl is.
They spend part of the time out of the water, learning about water safety.

Meanwhile, Heather has a great time playing in the water, digging in the sand, and having her lunch.

While they wait for their turn at swimming lessons, Wayne and a group of boys work on an intricate and never-ending series of trenches and holes for water flow. There's Dante.

A boy named Mitchell, Dante, Dante's 2-year-old brother Gavyn, Wayne, and the boy in orange is Caleb. Mitchell and Caleb are a year behind Wayne in school. As I said, they hate swimming lessons, but they love their free time to just play.

I haven't taken any pictures of Wayne yet in his swimming lesson. He does pretty well, but he has to work pretty hard at staying afloat because he's so thin that he has absolutely no buoyancy. He sinks like a rock.

I've been bringing hot cocoa in a thermos to warm them up when come out of the water all blue and shivering. Crazy - hot cocoa at the beach in July! Let's hope for sun today.
