We started off in the animal section. First some alpacas. Very weird animals, but they have very big, beautiful brown eyes. And some funny hair-dos.
Then into the barn where we fed a horse...
and looked at some sheep. There were also some bunnies, ducks, ponies, lots of cows, and some dogs and kittens.
As we were making our way to the midway, we were pleasantly surprised to find that Sandy, Edwin, and Elijah had made their way to the NEK for the Barton Fair. A little later we ran into Aimee and Tyler doing a little birthday fair celebrating. I didn't get any pics of them, sorry.
Some rides for the kids. A little train...
Heather was so cute. This is the first fair ride she's ever been on. She looked so nervous, but also excited.
Wayne really wanted to ride some bumper cars, but there weren't any. These little cars would have to do.
Wayne is already getting too big for these rides. He had a hard time getting his long legs into some of these kiddie rides.
This is more Wayne's style. It was some sort of obstacle course that ended with a huge slide.
I didn't get a good picture of this, but what they are in is a dinosaur that spins. I had gone on one spinning ride with them, similar to this, but I thought I was going to throw up so that was the end of rides for me. The old grey mare ain't what she used to be.
Heather dragged me into the stands to watch the tractor pulls, but what I really spent the time watching was this guy on this spinning contraption. I think everyone who was supposedly watching the tractors was really watching him because a couple of times he almost lost his balance and the whole crowed would gasp.
Heather ate some maple cotton candy in the stands.
The fair is always fun, but you know it's the end of summer, so it's a little bitter sweet.
Oh Darlene you know how to make me smile, guffaw, tear up and be straining into my computer at 7 a.m. trying to pick out what the heck that kiddie-versioned-Bob Marley song is...GREAT POST.
ReplyDeleteMiss the fair, miss the rides, miss being someplace where you can run into your brother unplanned.
p.s. now I am also singing "The Old Grey Mare". Hilarious!
p.p.s. Wayne having trouble getting his legs into the rides reminds me of Wes and his kayak escapade at the lake.....stayed tuned for a forthcoming post on MY blog.....
ReplyDeleteWhen we saw the title of your blog, we thought, "I wonder if they ran into Ed, Sandy, and Elijah?" We had talked to Ed just that morning and knew they were going to the fair for the day. What fun to later read that you did indeed run into them!
ReplyDeleteSo glad Heather enjoyed her first experience at the fair.
I agree the "The Fair" means the end of summer and is somewhat bittersweet.
The maple cotton candy sounds yummy! Glad you all had a great time!
