Behind Glover school are some hayfields and pastures and wooded areas that, during the winter, are open to the public and school use. In PE class Wayne skis around these trails. Torches were lit along the way to mark different trails.
Cole and Joanie were on snowshoes. Joanie pulled Heather in the sled. Heather didn't know what to think of this business of being out at night in the dark. She thought it was quite strange. Wes was back at the school's "shed" helping to outfit people with the school's ski boots, skis, and poles.

We finally caught up with Wayne to include him in a picture. Cole ran out of steam and ended up riding in the sled along with Heather. Wayne and I skied another loop and then I went inside with Heather and Cole for some hot cocoa and cookies while Joanie and Wayne stayed out for more recreation. They didn't come in until the very end.

In the gym people were playing basketball or just lounging around enjoying the refreshments.

We thought of you all last night as we knew you were out having a winter recreation night. We were glad it was such a warm night for you.
ReplyDeleteThose goodies you made, Darlene, sure looked great! What an expert chef you are!
Loved the roads and tunnels in the snowbanks. It is wonderful how your children are so imaginative. Kind of refreshing in this day and age!
Grammie says, "I loved all the winter activities."
"Joanie pulled Heather in the sled."

Joanie is amazing.
How nice to have such fun near your school and with your friends and family members.I think Aunt Joanie has as much fun as you children do. And Mommy's cookies and Golden Brownies look delicious!
ReplyDeleteLots of Love, Gramma and Grampa
We are on the next plane to get a hold of those desserts.
ReplyDeleteAlso I am homesick for snow.
We have an entire snowsuit I bought for Estelle at OskKosh, snowboots, and finally I broke down and bought winter boots here in France. We even spent 25 euros (don't ask, that's an insane amount of money) for a new sled - now we just need to find the energy to drive up into the mountains one wkend day and break them in.
Darlene, those are pretty darn good pictures for just pointing and taking pictures with no visual feedback! It was a fun evening! And is Frankie smooth as silk singing or what!
ReplyDeleteYou should have seen Wayne going like crazy down this pretty darn steep hill, in the dark! If he ever fell, he was up in seconds, and would hightail it back up to the top and go again--the second time was always upright the whole way!! And he noticed when suddenly the clouds opened up and the full moon shine!
