Owl

This morning as Wayne was taking care of his breakfast dish, he happened to look out the window above the sink. "Is that an owl? What is that?" We all clamored around the sink to look. I had to lift Cole and Heather up to see. Sure enough, there was a Barred Owl sitting right on top of the flag pole. I grabbed my camera and went out into the driving snow, wearing nothing more than my pajamas and a pair of Martha's mud boots from the garage.
He was really concentrating on something below and was not the least bit flustered by my presence. He glanced at me a couple of times as I inched closer, but basically remained unbothered.
When my camera was soaked with snow, I came back in and plugged my xD card into the computer to get a better look at the pictures I had taken. As I was here at the computer, I could see out the window that the owl swooped down from the flag pole into the raspberry bushes, scuffled around for a moment, and then took off dragging a small, unfortunate creature with him to the woods. I had not disturbed his meal.

  2. Spoooooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkyyyyyyyy!
    Look at that snow!
I disagree with Joan, however. Seeing a moose and thinking it is your Dad has more magic than an owl. ha ha

  3. How wonderful that you saw all that.

Grammie remembers before moving here that there was an owl on top of the flag pole for a few days.

    So cool!

  4. Okay, after I read what Grammie remembers, I am sure the owl was definately Dad.

  5. Just have to add that I heard the music for the first time at home, and it is very enchanting...realize it is the same composer as the Snowman, and wonder if it is more from the Peter Rabbit? It is beautiful.
Also, Darlene, I just put the picture as the desktop background, it is beautiful.

  6. Forgot to mention that Heather calls the owl a "towel."

"I see dat towel outside. I see de towel!"

Also should mention, that he came back in the evening. Will be watching for him this morning.

Yes, this is more of the Peter Rabbit music. I don't think Colin Towns wrote the music for The Snowman, but some of the same directors worked on making the videos.

By the way, if you go all the way to the bottom of this page to my "music box" you can click on the song title and it will take you to the web page that has more songs from this album. They're all so pretty.
