Wayne is on the Lake Region 10 and Under All Star Baseball team this year. The team includes the best players from the league, including kids from Barton, Irasburg, Orleans, and Glover. They've easily won their first 2 regional games. In fact both games have finished quickly, according to the 10 run rule - if one team is ahead by 10 runs, the the game is over. Last night's game against Three Rivers ended after barely an hour with a score of 12-1. On Wednesday, their game against Newport ended early with a score of 13-3. They play again on Saturday against whichever team wins today's game, and then will go on to the state tournament.
Both the regional and state tournaments are being held in Glover because we conveniently have the two playing fields side by side. Two games can be happening at the same time.
Because the games so far have been quick and rather uneventful, most of these photos were taken during warm-ups. Wayne has learned a lot from working with this team and their coaches. The practices they've had are on a much more strategic level than anything he's learned before.
This photo (below) is from last night's actual game. Wayne played a lot in Wednesday's game, but not very much last night. He did get a couple of good hits though.
Doesn't he look handsome in his uniform?
Stay tuned for further results. State tournament is coming right up after the 4th. Regardless of what happens on Saturday, Lake Region, as the hosting team, is guaranteed a slot in the state tournament.
