Wayne's fourth grade class presented their Story Keeper's projects this week. Here is Wayne with his exhibit. The students had their tables set up around the classroom so parents and friends could mill around at their leisure. If each student had individually presented their project, it would have taken hours. Wayne had a personal connection to the Historical Society (Joanie) so he was fortunate to have these photos, a scrapbook, a diary, and a civil war pin. Behind him, you can also see part of the huge family tree that he made months ago. Several kids had done projects on their grandparents or great grandparents. One girl chose her great aunt, who is still living, and they had written emails back and forth to each other for this project. In the emails, you could tell how tickled the great aunt was to have this attention and be a part of the project. Like Joanie pointed out, someday those emails will be a precious part of history.
These ladies were very impressed with Wayne's family tree and how far back he was able to trace it.
Too bad Cole was at recess!
I wish I had gotten a picture of Wayne with Joanie and Natalie Kinsey-Warnock. I know Wayne looked forward to having Joanie be a part of his class each week and he was also a little star struck to be working with a real, live published author.
In other news, my baby girl is no longer a preschooler. May 30th was her last day. They had a celebration which included face painting.
Here Heather is playing with the "photobooth" feature on the Mac.
Making a wind sock.
Planting some flowers.
Having strawberry shortcake.
And making giant bubbles.
On a final note, the kids are still having a lot of fun with the little chicks.

I thought of Wayne on Friday as I knew that was the day they were presenting their History projects. I hope I get to read his entire report on Elijah Stone when I am in Vermont this summer. It looks like he did a great job! His Timeline really impressed me! I wonder how he knew how to use that program??
ReplyDeleteHappy Last day of preschool to Heather. How exciting to think she will be in Kindergarten in the Fall!
Well, loved seeing all these photos...chicks grow up, but so do the kids, so much!! That last pic of Heather is right across from a side bar photo of her that looks so much younger!!
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of Wayne's work...he was such an independent worker!
Mom, did you notice that was Louise Kinsey looking at his project?
They all did a great job!!!

Great job on that project, Wayne! Congratulations to Aunt Joanie, too, for all her hard work with the whole class this Spring. Loving Heather's nice end-of-school hairdo. Do the new chicks have names yet?
ReplyDeleteWayne, your history project looked so interesting! Maybe you can someday, dress up like Elijah, and present his life story to young and old, like I have done with Laura Ingalls Wilder!! Bet your Mom and Dad and Aunt Joanie are as proud as peacocks!! Think we put flowers are Elijah's grave, didn't we??? I love the photo of Heather and her bubbles!Seeing her grow up is bittersweet!! Cole looks so comfy with his chicks! Such lucky kids!!
ReplyDeleteI am almost fearful to show these recent blog posts to my kids cause I think they might try and crawl thru the computer with excitement.
ReplyDeleteWow, Wayne! I "ditto" everything everybody else said. Way to go!
I like Heather's braid! Tres stylish!
In 19 days we'll be in VT, (not Glover, but as least close!)!!!!
Great job Wayne on your project! Neat pics of Elijah Stone!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Heather for her "graduation." xo auntie Laura
