Cole has been wanting to make a pie to challenge Wayne's award winning skills. The other morning, we made a blueberry pie with some hand picked blackberries thrown in for good measure. Confession: that's a store bought pie crust, but sometimes when you're not entering a contest it's ok to do that. Below, Cole is giving it a little egg wash so it browns up beautifully in the oven.
Here is the finished product. Doesn't it look pretty? It tasted like summer berry heaven.
Cole got a letter in the mail from his new teacher, Mrs. Dunlavey. She welcomed him to first grade and mentioned that the class has grown from 7 to 9 students. What a robust little group they are getting to be.

That pie looks amazing! Maybe Tyler should consider a little egg-brushing to polish up his pies? He made a blueberry-peach pie 3 nights ago that is quite good... and it smells wonderful! It was definitely blog-worthy but we ate it too quickly to take a picture!
ReplyDeleteAimee, I'm so impressed with men who cook. That's what I want Wayne and Cole to be.
ReplyDeleteThat pie sure looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteCole, I had to call church people to bake pies for last night's church supper, and there was only one man,out of 11 women, that volunteered to bake! Good for you! And none of the pies, including my blueberry and pumpkin, looked as beautiful as yours!! Keep baking! Love, Aunt Martha
ReplyDeleteCole, you keep that up and you'll be winning pie contests too! Darlene, yet another picture that is worthy of publishing - maybe in a cookbook?
