Only a few weeks of summer vacation left and we're just taking it easy.
Our day started off with little art - painting on fabric scraps with watercolors. I set this painting project up to keep the kids busy while I got lunch ready. The problem was that I kept taking pictures and painting with them instead of making lunch.
Wayne declined to take part in this art project because he doesn't like how Cole and Heather get the paints all muddied up in their little pallettes.
I think I'm starting a series here. I'll call it "The Creative Clothes Line." Heather finished two paintings. Nice girlie, colorful paintings of a butterfly and a flower.
And then there's this. Cole's popculture fusion art, StarWars meets Monster House. Really, he's the nicest, sweetest, gentlest lovebug you could ever meet. I swear.
When they finally got some lunch in their bellies, we headed off to Crystal Lake.
Wayne and Cole working nicely together on something in the sand.
And then a whole crew of boys working nicely together on something in the sand.
Spencer and Heather reunited on the beach.
Hope you all had a fun day.

Fabo photos, Darlene!
ReplyDeleteHeather has some kind of Cindy Crawford beach-look going on in that Crystal lake shot. Like a supermodel!
I do no craft projects with my kids. I don't play with them, pretty much ever. You get the good mom award!
Looks like you didn't need swimming lessons at Crystal - more fun to wait and go on good weather days!
But wait, where are the BIRTHDAY PHOTOS from the Candlepin???????
Mary or Martha will have to email me some photos from the birthday lunch.
ReplyDeleteI love Cole's artwork... very original! :)
ReplyDeleteDarlene, I think you could have a summer kids art's camp at your house! Tie dyed shirts, painted flags, photography, frog catching, etc, and then a trip to the beach!! What fun your kids have!! Addison was(is) sweet, too, but ALWAYS drew pictures of knights, dragons, grenades, army battles, volcanoes, explosions, blood. His first grade teacher was a bit concerned and suggested he try other art work! Don't worry about Cole! He is a gentle Ben!
ReplyDeleteI love how in all your blog photos when there are lots of little boys playing, Heather is right in there in the thick of things! Good for you, Heather!
