A Day with Dante

On Tuesday, I traded in Cole for Dante. Just for a few hours.

Cole went to spend the morning with Fintan while Dante came to spend the morning with Wayne (and Heather).

Lunch on the porch. We have to squeeze in as many meals on the porch as the summer will allow.

Then we took Dante to the pond and showed him how to make cattail ducks.

Here is one of his swimming in the water.

Then there were some light saber battles on logs.

Dante is Wayne's longest friend. They've known each other since they were barely able to walk. Look at them now.

  1. I recognize the log upon which Robin Hood and Friar Tuck are battling. The camera angle does not reveal that the log bridge is about ten feet above a muddy ditch lined with barbed wire and alligators.

It is across this log that our tour guide (I won't mention any names, Wayne) hoped to lead Heather and me on An Adventure. Cole was wise enough to abandon our Quest.

  2. (Correction: I meant Little John, not Friar Tuck, of course.)

  3. Isn't it cool to have a friend named Dante?
Those cattail ducks are giving you a lot of mileage!
    I like Heather's boots.
As I secretly guessed, Estelle had new boots waiting for her (so did Léna).

  5. Darlene, according to Ron Rood (I have not tried this) you can use your cattails in many ways, by drying the rootstocks, to make flour, cooking new shoots like asparagus, gathering pollen to flavor baked goods, or gather flower spikes, in early summer, when they are green, boil, salt and pretend it is corn on the cob. Just in case you "run out of things to do!", which I know you will not! :) Love all that you do! Enjoy the last days of vacation!
