The other day I was scouring the internet, searching for an environmentally acceptable way to get rid of all the cattails that are choking up our pond. I didn't find any miracle solutions. As we already figured, they just have to be dug out with an excavator. But I did come across this nifty little Native American project for making cattail ducks to float around in the water.

It takes a few tries to get the hang of it.
This is Cole's first attempt at a duck.
He got the hang of it after a couple of tries and a little help.
Heather's duck (with lots of help from Mommy)
The flock, or whatever a group of ducks is called.
Back in the Spring we had real ducks in the pond, but these will have to suffice for now

Darlene, what a wonderful mom you are - always searching for creative ways to keep those kids acitve and learning. The ducks are adorable - and so are the kids!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Mary :)
Darlene, Mary told me that there was yet ANOTHER blog in one day! I can't keep up, but love every minute of your blogs! The ducks are something you should submit to Family Fun magagzine. In fact, YOU should be chief editor and photographer! Hopefully Julie is taking notes as she stated she doesn't do any creative things with her kids! Maybe she can make goose sculptures out of all of the veal she is probably eating in Calvinet!!
ReplyDeleteYou are just incredible, Darlene!
ReplyDeleteLoved the cat tail ducks!
